Reimagining Teaching and Learning at UMD

As your university leaders, we are filled with tremendous pride as we watch our campus join together at the start of a new school year. The Maryland Energy Innovation Institute (MEI2) is focused on translating university energy research into new clean energy companies in the State of Maryland and offers a seed grant program to bridge the gap between academic transformative laboratory research results and prototype demonstrations to move early-stage projects onto a pathway to commercial development. 

The first week of a new semester is one of my favorite times of year. The campus is buzzing with energy, from the crowded sidewalks and lively dining halls to the classrooms where our faculty inspire the next generation of leaders, artists, writers, educators, scientists and global citizens—all while our dedicated staff work hard to spearhead a seamless start.

As we prepare for a new academic year, we continue to be guided by the vision we’ve set forth to dedicate ourselves to the public good, which is ingrained in our work through our strategic plan, Fearlessly Forward: In Pursuit of Excellence and Impact for the Public Good.
